Staying organized has been such a blessing during this new season in my life of running two businesses and being a full-time MBA student. It hasn’t been the easiest task in my life, but I knew I needed to find a way to have all my life in order so that I wouldn’t fall into a deep pit of stress with my tasks and assignments. And because I knew there had to be others out there just like me, it motivated me to write this post to share my 5 tips for staying organized.
It’s so easy to think that we can have everything memorized in our brain, and if that’s you I am so jealous. I’m the type of person that needs to write everything down in 4 or 5 different planners. Does that seem excessive? Maybe, but it’s what helps me know exactly what I need to do. If you’re in a season of busyness or a brand new full-time working student, I hope that this post serves you and gives you an idea of how to remain organized.
Something I learned in undergrad was that our brains and bodies love routine. Regardless if we go through a hectic season in our lives, there’s always a pattern going on there. Starting my morning off the same really sets the tone for the rest of my day and has me feeling a sense of ease. I like to begin my mornings with a quick prayer to The Lord and workout.
Now, I haven’t worked out in quite some time but it’s still my favorite part of my morning routine. Since my work schedule starts at 7 am, I take my bible and study book to my shift and spend more time with God.
Those are just some ideas being thrown out there in case you don’t know exactly where to start. Lately, my morning routine was sleeping until I only have 10 minutes to get to work and that just has me feeling so rushed and in a bad mood. Creating a morning routine will help set the tone for your day and will have you excited for what else you’ve got going on.
The next tip for staying organized is a to-do list. Write down your top 5 priorities for that day and do the in the order of importance. You can use sticky notes to create this list or buy a cute note pad titled “To-Do” if that floats your boat.
Here are two note pads that I love from The Daily Grace co. One is their Daily Notepad with a to-do section, but also a section to write a verse for the day, your goals, and prayer requests. It’s such a special notepad because it allows for specific intentions. If you’re just looking for a simple skinny note pad, they also have a Day to Day notepad where you can write down all your to-do items for the day.
Like I mentioned before, planners are practically my life. I own multiple planners for different topics and then I have one main planner where I combine all the tasks I have to do. This planner is the one that typically follows me everywhere when I don’t have a big enough purse to carry all my planners.
