Welcome back to another Wedding Wednesday! This one’s gonna be short simple – sort of like my guest list.
Creating the guest list was definitely not an easy task. Kai and I spent a few weeks writing down names of people we truly wanted celebrating with us. From this list, we crossed out people who we haven’t spoken to in a while. Although we wanted to invite some people we crossed off, we had to remind ourselves that the budget is only $10,000.00.
Keeping the budget in mind is the key thing that helped us decide who to invite. What was also big help was this wedding planner I bought at Michaels’. It was only like $20.00 and it’s super cute and organized! Being organized and having structure during this time is crucial, especially if you are your own wedding planner.
This past week, I was looking at the ‘guest list’ tab to see how to really narrow down the list.
The first people on the list, aside from our family members, was our wedding party. With the wedding party and their plus ones, our list was at 22 people. Then we started adding close family friends that we see as aunts and uncles, making the list grow to 150.
By the time we had a final list, our grand total of guests was 210. We did add a few family members that we recently reconnected with and truly wanted them to celebrate with us. But I was still in such shock about hour list grew so quickly. Of course we know not everyone will say “yes, we will be attending”, but we wanted to make sure we didn’t exceed the limit of our venue.
I read a lot of blogs that help brides figure out who they should actually invite to their wedding. What I found extremely interesting is that wedding guest, on average, range from 300-700 people.. WHAT! This totally calmed my nerves and I was so happy my guest list is barely peaking 250.
If your budget and blog posts still don’t do enough in helping you decide who to invite, try a questionnaire like this one! There’s so many out there on pinterest and they all relatively say the same thing!
